Solynta is a relatively young seed company based in Wageningen that develops high-quality hybrid potato varieties and produces hybrid true potato seeds (HTPS). At Solynta they are building a new road that pushes the boundaries of sustainable improvement in food and nutritional security worldwide.  This revolution in breeding not only greatly enhances the speed of product and systems development. Solynta is at the forefront of this innovation and, with its patented technology platform, excellently positioned to target the multi-billion euro global market for potato genetics (25 grs hybrid true potato seeds versus 2500 kg tubers/ha).
For the rapidly expanding Market Development Team we are looking for a Market Development Manager.

What are you going to to?

You are is responsible for developing strategies to enter new markets. You will analyse market trends, assess customer needs, and initiate trials in priority markets in e.g. Africa, Asia, Eastern-Europe and identify the best product-market combinations.
With your team members you are responsible for providing full product and agronomic support to the Solynta commercial efforts.
Your focus is on ensuring that their customers and partners are successful. This will include setting up customized agronomic research and guidance with the objective of paving the way for smooth and successful introduction of the use of Solynta’s ground breaking hybrid true potato seeds

Tasks:

  • Lead, guide, and oversee the activities of the Market Development Representatives, serving as a hands-on leader who actively contributes to their work ( Solyta’s “eyes” and “ears” in the areas);
  • Secure successful product launches and market penetration by supporting our partners with the best in class service;
  • Work closely with Solynta’s commercial team to determine required product support; e.g. coordinate  product demonstrations and field days;
  • Engage with identified customers to ensure their success  and develop product support plans for new customers;
  • Establish local product priorities and analyse competition;
  • Support and optimize (the) HTPS cultivation system(s) in the targeted geographies;
  • Provide detailed product descriptions and performance overviews;
  • Collaborate closely with Solynta’s technical divisions to source necessary product information;
  • Monitor and guide product registrations (market intelligence);
  • Regularly update the Product Management Lead with comprehensive reports.

We ask:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture or a related education;
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in potato cultivation;
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams with high transparency;
  • Proficiency in various relevant software applications, including MS Office and variety testing software;
  • Create and deliver clear, concise, and impactful PowerPoint presentations;
  • Proactive attitude, pioneers mindset, adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing environment;
  • Willingness to travel approximately 70-100 days per year, both domestically and internationally;
  • Ability to handle complexity and multitask effectively, even under pressure;
  • Native or bilingual proficiency in English;
  • Current residency in The Netherlands.
